An interesting study was recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
In this study, 176 healthy adults were given DHA or a placebo over 6 months, and were subjected to various memory and reaction time tests.
Their basic conclusion was that High DHA fish oil improved both memory and reaction time. However, there were differences in how men responded to the fish oil versus women.
Specifically, women had a better improvement in memory, while men had a better improvement in reaction times.
The 6 month time period is interesting because, as the researchers point out, DHA requires about 6 months for it to reach a plateau levels in our tissues.
This is why you cannot take a fish oil supplement and expect sudden, magical results in a short period of time. Fish oil supplements should be taken daily for at least 6 months, if not longer, before deciding to continue or not.
We should note that the dose used in this study was 1,160 mg DHA per day. Using our product, you would need to take two of our capsules per day.
What isn’t clear is how pure the DHA was in the product the researchers used.
Regardless, what is clear is that if you already have a low-DHA diet (i.e., from a lack of fish in your diet), then a quality fish oil supplement can provide visible health benefits.
