CoQ10 Side Effects

Barbara in Philadelphia, sent us this note:

“I’d like to try you coenzyme q10 product, but does it have side effects?”

Well, Barbara, the good news is that coenzyme Q10 (also known as CoQ10) does not have any major side effects.

Remember, CoQ10 is produced naturally by all of the cells in the body. It is an important substance in the conversion of food to

So taking a supplement with CoQ10 will not cause any major side effects.

As with any other supplement, you may experience some mild stomach upset, and even some nausea.

Insomnia is another possible side effect.

There are rare cases where CoQ10 may lower your blood pressure. So if you are also on any blood pressure medication, we suggest speaking with your prescriber before taking CoQ10 for your heart.

Also, if you are having any surgery, we recommend stopping the CoQ10 at least two weeks prior to the procedure.

So that’s it, Barbara. Thanks for your question!
