A few folks have told us that Traumeel is a good pain reliever for dogs. Traumeel for dogs? Really?
Apparently, both cats and dogs are very sensitive to acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol…sensitive to the point that veterinarians do not recommend acetaminophen for dogs and cats.
Aspirin is an option, but stomach irritation is a concern in pets, as it is for humans.
Other over-the-counter pain relievers have not been studied in detail in dogs and cats.
At WisdomAndHealth, we’re pharmacists, not veterinarians. We don’t even own a pet. So we cannot advise you regarding the suitability of Traumeel for pets. Please speak with your veterinarian before giving Traumeel tablets to your pet.
If anyone has any experience with Traumeel tablets, ointment, or gel and their pets, please let us know. We’d love to learn about it!
